Today 21.12.2013 is the day of winter solstice. After that the days will become longer.:)
At Siilinjärvi the lenght of day today is 4h40min. Sunrise is 9:48 AM and sunset 2:28 PM.
At now here is not enough snow for skiing. Temperature today was around 0C. Cloudy day and late evening it began snowing. The Cristmas eve will propably be white here, but barely.
December has been many degrees warmer than average.
I have read that snow cover doubles the amount of light compared to snowless ground during clear weather. And even 4x more ligh during cloudy weather with snowcover compared to snowless ground.
